Kathleen Gail Marrello

April 12, 1960 - August 24, 2022

Kathie Lacey Marrello, treasured wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on Wednesday August 24th in Black Diamond, Washington, after a short but valiant battle with glioblastoma.

Born in Mount Kisco, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Lacey and Neva Joyce Durkee. Kathie received a certificate in Horticulture from The Bureau of Cooperative Extension Services in NY and went on to do Interior Landscaping and freelance floral work before becoming employed at Costco.

Affectionately known as “the flower lady”, Kathie was a ray of sunshine to anyone she met.  She was quick with a smile and a joke but was also an immense support and comfort to her loved ones. An avid lover of music, Kathie relished dancing with her girls as babies and continued to dance along to her favorite music until the very end. Her smile and humor brought out the best in everyone around her.

Kathie made friends easily and collected them from a young age. She continued to collect friends through her children, known as the irreverently funny and sweet Mom that would scold you with a smile. Kathie was a very thoughtful and observant presence, always seeming to know the right thing to say or the best gift to give. Recently, Kathie relocated to Washington to spend more time in nature and with family, especially at Lake Sawyer. While she was missed, so many were happy to see her follow her dream. She loved going for walks, meeting new people and most of all, spending time with her partner-in-crime, her husband Dave, her children and her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Kathie’s joy and love will live on through her daughters; Charlotte Marrello Brady (Brandon) and Katelyn Marrello Newlin (Shawn), her granddaughters; Alesana Brady and Haze Brady and her sisters Robin Forgey (Jeff) and Michelle Kunz (Gary).  As well as missed by her furry children, Toby, Itchy and Scratchy.

Please join us for in celebrating Kathie's life on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 from 2pm - 5pm, at the Marietta Community House (264 West Market Street, Marietta, PA 17547)
