Ernest Eugene Brooks

November 26, 1935 - November 21, 2022

                                                            Remembering Our Father

Ernest Eugene Brooks passed away after a brief illness Monday, November 21st 2022. He is survived by his wife, Trudy Brooks; sons: Christopher Brooks (Robin), Ernest Brooks II (Doug), and Jeffery Brooks; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Millie Brooks and his brother Robert Samuel Brooks.

Ernie held a variety of professions throughout his life most notably working on the waterfront as a longshoreman starting out in Anacortes in 1965, and later transferring to Everett and finishing his career of 35+ years. Prior to that he served full time in the National Guard from 1954 until 1964 at the Anacortes, Wa. armory.

Ernie liked taking the boys out fishing on opening day, as well as camping in local parks and traveling the coastal roads with a southern trip to see Disneyland and many interesting stops along the way.

In his leisure time Ernie loved building a variety of barnwood furniture and birdhouses. Most summers and early fall would find him at the local farmers market where he enjoyed talking with the customers and selling his handiwork. His driveway allowed for the display of many of his creations and he enjoyed a steady stream of customers that would drop by and shop at the house. His workshop was often abuzz with the sounds of his craft work.

From the early 1970’s Ernie entered and became a member of the local Masonic Temple in Anacortes, Wa. Together with Trudy they spent a great amount of time in pursuit of greater levels of achievement and fraternity within both the Masonic order and Order of the Eastern Star of which both Ernie and Trudy found much joy and friendship.

Although we wished to keep him with us forever, we take comfort in knowing he is with our lord, and is with loved ones that preceded him in death. To quote our father “They are always watching over us”

The family would like to thank the Anacortes fire dept., Island Hospital and the Doctors and nurses who took care and comforted him during his final day on earth.
