Jeffrey Lorance Lukanuski

November 08, 1958 - February 06, 2023

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jeffrey Lorance Lukanuski on February 6, 2023.

Jeff was born to parents James and Janna Lukanuski on November 8, 1958, in Tacoma, Washington. After many moves for his father’s geology work, the family settled in Tucson, Arizona in 1972, when he began his freshman year at Santa Rita High School. In 1973, he transferred to Sahuaro High School as a sophomore, where he met his future wife and graduated in 1976. Jeff found a passion for soccer before graduating, and after high school, he began coaching youth soccer and played on many teams for the Tucson Metro Soccer League and an indoor soccer club. He was very involved with the TMSL through coaching, refereeing and playing for many years. As a HVAC/Refrigeration technician, he was a member of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and the California Association of Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He held many Officers positions within both associations. Jeff liked to spend his free time cheering the Dallas Cowboys and U of A; watching international soccer, a passion shared with his younger brother; hunting and rocket launching. As a family, we enjoyed many trips together, both planned and spur of the moment. He loved big family gatherings for holidays and birthdays.

Jeff was preceded in death by grandparents Milli and Phil, Katherine and Nick, Uncle Gary, Aunt Lilli, Uncle George, Uncle Richard M, Aunt Terri and sister Jamie.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Lukanuski, parents James and Janna Lukanuski, sister Jill Lukanuski, brother Jon Lukanuski and Shelly, Aunt Marlene, Aunt Fairalee; his children Nicole and Alex, Brad, Kristine and Phillip, Janette and Ricky, Eric and Brittanie; grandchildren Juliana, Kaydence, Isabella, Madison, Phillip, Jacob and Maddox; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Banner Hepatology, Radiology, Cancer Center, Hospital and ICU staff; Dr. Waggoner and Samantha at Pima Heart; Dr. Randolph Scott and his staff and all his other doctors for their care and compassion.  He thought very highly of all of you.

A Celebration of Life potluck will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023 beginning at noon at Morris K. Udall Park, Ramada 9. Please contact a member of the immediate family for details or with any questions.

Christopher Thomas Jeff, you are already missed my friend......definitely not for your soccer skills, but undeniably for the wonderful friend and impeccable teammate you were for all those many years. Rest in peace my brother!

Carl Piccarreta Jeff, It has been years since we last spoke, but we have a history of years spent together with TMSL. In time, those memories will bring comfort and smiles. For now, the Tucson soccer community mourns with your family. You left us far too soon, brother.

Brandi Champion Jeff, you will be missed by the beautiful family you created. I know your jumping on a trampoline or playing on the beach somewhere all pain and worries gone. Rest easy my friend.
