Helen Marie Tabb

September 08, 1946 - March 20, 2023

Helen Marie Tabb, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2023 in Tucson, Arizona. Helen was born to Raymond and Helen Bender on September 8, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky. Helen is survived by her husband David Tabb of 56 years, her daughter Laura Tabb, her son Mark Tabb and her brothers Tony Bender and Larry Bender.

Helen met David at a high school football game in Louisville when they were sixteen years old. Helen and David married four years later. They started a family soon thereafter, with the birth of Laura two years later, and Mark two years after that. The family moved from Louisville to Wilmington, Delaware and Cleveland, Ohio before finally settling in Wilmington. With her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics she worked at the University of Delaware and later at DuPont. After the children graduated from college they moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1998.

Helen was an avid gardener, bridge player and tennis player. Helen was always volunteering – at Laura's and Mark's schools, at Mobile Meals and Food Banks. She was a Deacon at St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church. Helen had a zest for traveling and experiencing new places and cultures – Europe, Caribbean Islands, Central America and US National Parks, especially in the West.

A Memorial Service will be held at St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church on April 22, 2023 at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona or St John on the Desert Presbyterian Church.

barbara chehoski I had been good friends with Helen for over 20 years. We shared many activities together and I always found her to be a kind and giving person who jumped in with both feet when it counted. I will surely miss her and I hope she is at peace.
