Dianne F Seymour

January 02, 1931 - March 16, 2023

Dianne Camille Fischer Seymour passed peacefully from this life to the next on March 16, 2023.

She was born January 2, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, the only child of Myra and Harold Fischer. Her family moved to West Virginia when Dianne was 3 and her father accepted a posting as a National Park Ranger---later transferring to Concessions manager. Dianne’s childhood was spent moving with her parents to different National Parks.

Dianne graduated Valedictorian of Williamsburg, KY, High School, and Magna Cum Laude from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY, with a BA in Political Science. She pledged Phi Mu Sorority, where she was chosen “Best Pledge” and “Outstanding Graduate”.

Following graduation, Dianne declined a Fulbright Scholarship for marriage to her life’s love, Wil Seymour, whom she met at a square dance in North Carolina.

After Wil’s graduation from Emory University Dental School in Atlanta, GA, they moved to San Diego, CA,  where Wil was a Naval Officer, then north to Clovis, CA, where he established a dental practice. After a short career as an English and Reading teacher, Dianne’s attention turned to community and civic interests. Besides involvement in her family’s numerous activities, she became active in politics, serving on several campaign staffs as well as President of Fresno Republican Women. She also served on the local and state Republican Central Committees. Social activities included Newcomers and Phi Mu Alumnae, in which she also served as President. She greatly cherished the friendships made there. She was probably most proud of being instrumental in bringing Honor Flight to Fresno.

Dianne loved traveling, parties, and being with friends. She had a sharp sense of humor and valued a good joke. She was always most generous in sharing her time and resources with family, friends, and charities. She was a tireless advocate and fundraiser. We will miss her and cherish our memories of her.

She is survived by her children Kimberly, Stephen and Christopher, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Dianne's funeral service and reception will be held on May 6, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, 5073 N. Palm Ave., Fresno, CA.  In lieu of flowers, donations to her memory may be made to The Salvation Army, St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Central Valley Honor Flight.
