June Elaine Purvis passed away on May 12, 2022, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. One of 17 children, she was born on April 27, 1945, in Connersville, Indiana, the daughter of Harold and Mossie Kiser Sleet. She graduated with honors from Connersville High School in 1963. She held jobs with various companies as a secretary for many years. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she loved teaching others about the Bible. June is survived by a son, Durie (Shack) Purvis, Jr., two granddaughters, Malaya and Taylor, a great granddaughter, Madisyn, a sister, Gloria (Sam) Herd, several in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Anne, eight brothers, Frank, Mark, Bruce, Fred, David, John, Ernest, and Dale, and seven sisters, Evelyn, Marian, Donna, Barbara Jean, Rosemary, Ellen, and Charity. June has requested that no funeral services be held.
