She was born on February 7, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois.  Her parents were Mary Frances Skau and Robert Vincent Skau. Lauretta was a beloved wife, sister, step-mother, aunt, and friend.

She was also a cherished step-mother to Kevin's three sons, Andrew, David, and Ian, and their respective families. A devout Catholic throughout her life, Lauretta found comfort and solace in her faith. She generously supported various charitable organizations.  Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Professionally, Lauretta started working at Vitali Import at a young age and eventually became the owner of the musical import/export business. She dedicated many years to running the business before retiring.
