Colleen Mary Hoy

July 21, 1951 - February 29, 2024

Colleen M. Hoy passed peacefully with her loved ones by her side on February 29th, 2024. She would have made a joke about it being leap day.

She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 21, 1951, a birthday she proudly shared with Robin Williams. She moved to San Francisco when she was just 16, becoming a beloved au pair to the Mohun family. She went on to attend the University of San Francisco for both her undergraduate and law degrees.

She became a spirited trial attorney known for her ability to make judges and juries laugh. In her professional life, some knew her affectionately as "Pookie's Lawyer" for her victorious defense in a dog-bite case. In her personal life, however, she was much more of a cat-person. She also loved pigs, miniature collectables, and Governor Gavin Newsom.

A crafty woman and collector of corks, she made many a handmade gift for her friends, family, and her favorite bartenders. No two were alike, from pillows to scrunchies to infamous napkins adorned with political expletives. Her sense of humor, handmade cards, and CD mixtapes will be missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 24th at her favorite haunt, the Pig & Whistle.
