Jesstine O'Neal Mankins

May 15, 1925 - March 12, 2021

Jesstine O'Neal Mankins, 95, of Gila Bend, AZ, passed into eternal rest on March 12, 2021. She was born in Cooter, MO, on April 15, 1925, to William and Gladys (Alvey) Vinson.

Jesstine and her beloved husband, Virgil Mankins, were married for 37 years before his passing in 1978. Together they had 13 children and traveled throughout the United States before settling in Modesto, CA. After Virgil's death, Jesstine began working at Keller's of Modesto until her retirement in 1993. In 1996, she moved to Gila Bend, Az. with her daughter Carole Galvez and children and son Delbert, where they purchased land and began an ostrich farm.

Jesstine was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; her parents; her four siblings; her sons Leroy, James and Delbert; and a daughter, Cynthia Duvaul.

 She is survived by her children: Donald (Jesse), of Gila Bend; Virginia Timineri and JoeAnn Hagerty, both of Modesto, CA.; Elroy (Annetta) of Hayfork, CA.; Carole Galvez of Buckeye, AZ.; Patricia (Gary) Hart of Silverdale, WA.; Randy VandenBurg of CA.; Judy (David) Diamond of San Rafael, CA.;Joseph Johnson of West Jordan, UT.; daughter-in-law Gloria Reis of Rio Rancho, NM.; daughter-in-law Gloria Manuel of Gila Bend, AZ.  She is further survived by 36 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Jesstine was prepared and transported to California by Avenidas Funeral Chapel of Goodyear, AZ, A memorial service was held at 10 am to noon Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel Inc,. 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto, CA., with burial services at 1:30 pm at Ceres Memorial Park-Cemetery, 1801 E. Whitmore Ave., Ceres, CA. A celebration of life followed at Davis Community Park, 2701 College Ave., Modesto, CA.

Pallbearers were: Jessy Mankins, Roberto Galvez, Jeremy Mankins, Bobby Misquez, Frankie Espinoza, and Ashton Manuel.  Honorary Pallbearers were: Ryan Misquez, Jacob Misquez, Noah Misquez, Kaleb Misquez, Gage Galvez, Braydon Galvez, and Max Mankins.
