Michael Paul Fennell, 81, died peacefully on March 29, 2025 in his home in Alameda, CA surrounded by family after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. A successful entrepreneur, accomplished inventor, and lifelong sailor, he was loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, neighbor, and a dear friend to many, and he will be missed by all.
Michael was born in Alameda, CA to James Stanley Fennell and Winifred Mary Fennell on July 15, 1943. He spent most of his life living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Michael started out his career at W.A.PalmerFilms Inc. and then as manager of Adolph Gasser’s Inc., a film and broadcast video equipment rental facility that catered to Hollywood’s film and television professionals. He soon put his imaginative mind and problem-solving skills to work and came up with the first cable organizer using VELCRO® brand hook and loop fasteners – The Original RIP-TIE Cable Wrap. He founded and served as the CEO of his successful business, RIP-TIE, Inc. for 40 years.
Michael was pre-deceased by his parents, Stanley and Winifred Fennell; and his brothers James and Walter Fennell. He is survived by his loving wife Mika Mori; His sister Victoria Chipman of Mill Valley CA, his brother Justis Fennell of Alameda CA, his daughter Rory Fennell of Greenbrae CA, sons Forrest Fennell of Petaluma CA, Nathaniel Fennell of Alameda CA, Rowan Fennell of Fairfax CA, Dashael Nadler-Fennell of Pasadena CA, and 6 grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the Encinal Yacht Club, Alameda, CA on June 1, 2025 from 1PM to 4PM. Condolences may be sent to 1304 Park Avenue Alameda CA 94501
