Douglas “Diego” Abbott

(March 14,1964-May 2,2025)

Douglas “Diego” Abbott, age 61, resident of Las Vegas, NV, passed away at home on May 2, 2025. 

  Diego served a life traversing the ever changing landscapes of service,honor and protection in the army and as an enforcement officer. His proud service often took him to various parts of the world and earned him many commendations for his leadership and bravery. Diego achieved his Masters in Political Science and was an avid historian. His experiences and knowledge were voluminous. When inspired and tapped into a discussion of an historic person or event his momentum was endless with stories of accuracy, intrigue and educational detail. I often called him “ My History teacher”.

  Through riding the momentum of his ambitions, he lived with an ideal to overcome any challenges with fiery persistence. He had a relentless desire to finish what he started..certainly having done that in this life. He has a  legacy of achievements despite a life riddled with more mental and physical challenges than average. Later in life he married and owned a beautiful home with his wife and pets. 

   Diego was a larger than life warrior, heroic and accomplished. He will be fondly remembered as our veteran, our friend, a brother, son, and my husband. He leaves an impact to all those who had the privilege to know and love him.

  Diego is survived by his wife Dawn Abbott, mother and stepfather Jill and Tom Benton, and his brother Greg Abbott.

As Joseph Campbell quotes “ …you will not live forever. When you die your spirit will go “above the blue”. We will meet again.
