Captain William Corbin
Bill was born on November 7, 1931 to Reed and Helen Corbin in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. He served honorably in Korea as a special advisor to the South Korean army and as a U.S. tank battalion commander. After the service he attended Johns Hopkins University earning a BA in business. While he was in school he worked for Electrolux selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door. During the 60's, after he graduated, he went on to work for Corning and several aerospace industry companies as a quality engineer. He was responsible for the satellite launches. It was also at this time he served as mayor of the small town of Calverton, Maryland. In the seventies he moved to California and went back into sales with Electrolux. He was honored with being named to their Vice President Sales Club for many years as being one of their top salesmen in the country. He enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife Inge. Bill never fully retired and continued his sales endeavors throughout his life.
OTHER INTERESTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Bill loved basketball, especially the teams in Los Angeles, the Lakers and the Clippers. He also followed the Los Angeles Dodger baseball team. He enjoyed politics and was an avid watcher of the news. He was known as the "bird man" of Canyon Lake because of all the pictures of local birds he took. His photography was often highlighted in the local Canyon Lake newspaper. Bill was a dog lover and enjoyed the company of all the fur children. He loved a good story and always had one to tell. And anyone who encountered him was given a list of his trivia questions.
SURVIVORS
He is survived by his children Kim Keleman, Dave Corbin, and Christiane Corbin, and his grandchildren Jason Corbin, Lindsay Laubach, Justin Corbin, Briana Keleman, and Dianna Cates. He was predeceased by his wife Ingeborg Corbin, his son Randy Corbin, and his sister Barbara Fagin.
