Edith Barbara Walbeck

January 19, 1924 - May 26, 2025

Edith (Edie) B. Walbeck was born January 19, 1924. She passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 at the age of 101.

She is preceded in death by her parents August and Frances Azzarello, sister Lee Aiello, brothers Anthony and Bud Azzarello, her husband of 55 years; Ed, her children Mark Walbeck and Teresa Foley.

She is survived by her son Jeff (Judy) Walbeck of Salinas, sister Virginia Alameda of Gilroy, her 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Edie was born in San Jose, CA where she grew up. She worked hard her entire life while raising her children and two of her grandchildren. She spent 20 years working at Sees Candy. She retire from Fresno Unified where she prepared and packaged lunches.

She was well known for her sweet tooth, lead foot (which included her mobile chair) and her delicious spaghetti sauce. If Edie loved you, she was sure to let you know.

For the past 14 years she resided at the Nazareth House residential care facility in Fresno. She enjoyed playing bingo, where she always walked away with winnings. She made many friends with the wonderful staff. She also formed a special friendship with fellow resident, Joe Reyes, who provided her with companionship and care when she needed it most.

Edie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family is most grateful for the kindness and attention paid to her by the Nazareth House staff. There will be a private funeral Mass and interment of her ashes, at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.

Eternal rest grant unto Edie, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
