Kevin Columb Lynch

November 29, 1961 - July 28, 2025

Kevin Columb Lynch, age 63, of Oxnard, CA, died tragically in an early-morning crash on Monday, July 28, 2025.

For reasons yet to be determined, his Tesla veered off the road, slammed into a tree, and immediately caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene on River Road, north of Chualar River Road in Monterey County, California.

Kevin was born in Londonderry, Ireland, on Wednesday, November 29, 1961. He was the third oldest child and second oldest son of Thomas H. and Florence M. (Duran) Lynch in a family of nine children.

Raised in a military home, his family moved often. By the time he graduated from 12th grade, he had attended six different schools in six different locations. He graduated from Portales High School in Portales, New Mexico, in 1980.

After graduation, he moved to Wichita, Kansas, and worked at the Coleman Company while attending Wichita State University (WSU), where he pursued an engineering degree.

In 1983, he joined the United States Navy and trained as an electronics technician. Following active service in Florida and Illinois, he moved to Washington State, where he attended Lynnwood Community College and received an AAS degree in Science, Computers, and Technology. He then relocated to Bellingham, Washington, and attended Western Washington University (WWU), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business with concentrations in Finance and Marketing and a minor in Communications.

After college and a brief stint with Arby’s, he landed a job as a manager trainee with Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), a cable television company later purchased by AT&T. TCI sent him to Lewiston, Idaho.  He resigned from that position after about a year and returned to Bellingham, Washington, where he spent time soul-searching for about a year before deciding to pursue a career in the movie industry. After making several hundred calls to establish Hollywood contacts, he moved to Los Angeles, California.

In 1994, he established International Computing Services, Inc. (ICS), a company providing infrastructure planning and proactive IT system management to companies in Los Angeles and beyond. A self-made man, he was happy with the company he created and took great pride in working hard to continuously improve and grow it for his clients.

He married once, and like many couples, two good people joined with the best of love and intentions, but it just didn’t work out.

Kevin had no children but was a wonderful Uncle—sweet, fun, and loving. He didn’t attend church but was a spiritual man.

While speaking with a cousin in 2024 they discussed the need for happy family gatherings—without the sadness of family funerals. Kevin decided to have built a secure family website to foster family closeness, no matter the miles. One where family could collaborate on reunions, share news, record family history, and support one another with their collective talents through generations. In July, we celebrated our first Duran—Lynch family reunion in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a place of our ancestral roots and early childhood. He enjoyed the gathering very much.

We never know when the special light of a loving heart will slip beyond our grasp.  Kevin was a special heart. A wonderful brother, uncle, and friend—loving, caring and fun. Many have spoken of him fondly as the life of the party, a joy to be around. Indeed he was.

He took full advantage of the physical amenities of California life: swimming and diving, snorkeling, running, hiking, biking, boxing, fitness centers, and riding motorcycle with friends.

He had a favorite “spoken-word” song he shared with new graduates. It seems appropriate to share it with you: “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)” by Baz Luhrmann. Find a good version.

Surviving family includes 6 sisters: Brigid & (Mark) Kennedy, Deirdre & (Scott) Washburn, Killeen & (Sammy) Tapia, Mavourneen & (Rob) Baca, Venetia & (Darrell) Chenault, and Audrey & (Brent) Pfeiffer. And 1 brother: Padraig Lynch. 18 nieces & nephews: Terry, Alissa, Malcolm, Brenlen, Lexen, Gerry, Zach, Caleb, Brienden, Shayland, Keisha, Trenton, Shealton, Laneith, Sadei, Seamus, & Gavin. Numerous great-nieces & great-nephews. Special Aunt, Marcella Duran (Aunt Christina). And numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Beloved brother Seamus Lynch. Great-niece Lilylynn Washburn. Special Uncle, Leonard Duran Sr. Grandparents: Henry H & Esther F (Pollard) Lynch; and Arthur A & Francis [Alfoncita] (Chavez) Duran. And numerous other relatives.

To his cherished friends and loved ones—(too many to mention, and some who will just be learning of this sudden loss): May Many Blessings be upon you! Thank you for the lights you were in his life! He enjoyed every minute he shared with you! Live Well, Laugh Hardy, and may the memory of his light, laughter and big smile always make you smile! A special thank you to his friends BIll Reider and David Rodriquez who reached out with great comfort and support during this time of sudden loss. May God Bless us one and all!

Cremation is currently in progress. Interment will take place at Lakin Comanche Cemetery, in Ellinwood, Kansas at a future date.

A celebration of life will be held in California—and one in Kansas with his interment. To be notified when scheduling information becomes available please send an email with your location request (CA or KS), included in the subject line to: Kevin.Life.Celebration@gmail.com
