Mary Ann Kennedy
August 23, 1956 – July 28, 2025

Mary Ann Kennedy, 68, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Sacramento, California.

For nearly 30 years, Mary shared her life with her beloved partner, Dane Jubera. She was a devoted mother to Michael J. Kennedy, Rosie Robb (husband Donald Robb), and Amanda Crabill (husband Donald Crabill), and loving stepmother to Jonathan Jubera (wife Lisa Jubera), Justin Jubera (partner Tina Spencer), and Jeremy Jubera.  She took immense joy in her seven grandchildren—Owen, Lily, Logan, Maggie, Justus, Xander and Tabitha—who were the light of her life.

Mary had a distinguished career in law and public service. Most recently, she served as an Attorney/Advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration, Office of Disaster Assistance.  Previously, Mary was an Attorney-At-Law in Washington D.C. where she was a APABA Treasurer, Board Member, and Co-Chair of the National Asian Pacific Bar Association Convention in 1992. Additionally, she worked as an Attorney for the Department of Labor, Staff Attorney for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, contributed to Covered California, and shared her love of the arts as a Family Program Guide at the Crocker Art Museum. A proud and long-standing member of the D.C. Bar Association, she was deeply respected by colleagues and peers.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Mary was an artist at heart. She loved to paint, with her work displayed in galleries over the years, and found inspiration in her travels to Hawaii. She took great pride in her Japanese heritage and treasured time spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends.

Her family will honor her with a private celebration in Santa Cruz, releasing her ashes into the Pacific waves she so deeply loved.

To honor Mary’s memory, the family invites donations to Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
