Michael Stanton Long

December 22, 1961 - September 22, 2025

Michael “Mike” Long, longtime resident of Rohnert Park, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on September 22, 2025, at the age of 63.

Mike was born on December 22, 1961, to Jack S. Long and Virginia G. Crikos. He graduated from Rancho Cotate High School and spent more than 40 years living in the Rohnert Park community.

He worked in construction as a skilled carpenter and was known for his many talents, both in his trade and in his hobbies. Mike especially enjoyed woodworking and had a passion for making ukuleles, electric guitars, vases, and jewelry boxes — some of which he crafted from cigar boxes. He also built his prized 1972 Monte Carlo, which was one of his greatest joys. In addition, he loved playing darts and frequently competed in local dart tournaments.

Mike’s humor and playful spirit were well known. He loved joking with his nieces and nephews and delighted in making clever little gadgets and puzzles that required intelligence to open. His creativity, craftsmanship, and laughter will long be remembered by family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann Vincent-Long; his father, Jack S. Long; and his mother, Virginia G. Crikos. He is survived by his daughter, Shanna Olivares; his grandson, Lucas Olivares; and his siblings, Dwane Griffin, David Griffin, and Donna Crikos. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Geraldine (Gerie) Vincent; his sisters-in-law, Julie (Max) Baumgartner and Kathy (Lance) Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

In his final days, Mike was lovingly cared for by his lifelong high school friend, Linda Wells, who remained by his side and was with him when he passed.

No service or visitation is scheduled. In accordance with his wishes, Mike’s remains will be cremated and spread in Kahana Bay.

Family and friends will miss him dearly.
