Joseph E. Kelly of San Francisco, California, passed away in San Francisco on November 18, 2025.

Joe was born in Massachusetts on March 5, 1952, to William Joseph Kelley and Mary Frances Twomey.  He attended University of Massachusetts in Amherst and obtained his Master's Degree from Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio.  He most recently worked at the Department of Defense as a Techinical Assistance Group Chief for over 20 years until his retirement.  

Joe was an amazing cook, and an avid reader and collector of music of all genres.   He had a fantastic sense of humor and was incredibly kind and generous.

Joe is survived by Gary R. Lea, his husband/partner of 50 years, a sister Mary (Richard) Joyce of Falmouth, MA, sister-in-law Linda (James) Hopkins of Newfane, VT, niece Melanie Condon of Hinsdale, NH, and nephew Steven Patch (Sergio Martinez), of Venice, FL.  Joe was predeceased by both of his parents.

A private ceremony to celebrate Joe's life will be scheduled.
