Michael was the youngest child born to Jack and Suzanne in Fullerton, CA

The Family moved to Turlock, CA, in 1978, where he lived his childhood full of joy and laughter. Michael took dance lessons, played soccer, and baseball. 

Finding his way in life, he lived on a Cruise ship and traveled to several exotic ports. He tried living in London and Washington, DC, before moving to San Francisco. The City that had his heart. Michael felt this was his true home. 

Throughout his life, Michael held many roles that showcased his adaptability and ambition. He was a bartender on a cruise ship, a Limousine driver for the elite, and a car salesman to support his education. His career as a Facilities Manager took him around the world, working for companies such as the New York Stock Exchange, Parkside Lending, CBRE, C&W Services, Robert Half, Skywalker Properties, and Treasure Data. His current role at Treasure Data allowed him to travel the world, visiting Japan, Tokyo, China, Vancouver, and London. His dedication and achievements in his professional life earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike. 

Michael had a passion to travel, visiting many Countries and States, always in first class, and he was known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life. His curiosity, kindness, and genuine nature endeared him to many, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. 

Michael’s life was deeply fulfilled by advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. He founded local support groups and mentored young LGBTQ+ individuals, opening his home and heart to help others find their way. His efforts to create safe spaces reflect his compassion and dedication to making a difference. 

To continue a family legacy passed down from both his Grandfathers, Michael became a member of the Free Masons, California Lodge #1. 

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Jack Yorker; his Nephew, Seth Cruz; his dog, Rosie; and too many wonderful friends. 

Michael is survived by his Mother, Suzanne Yorker, his sisters, Michelle Yorker and Kathy Cruz (Constantino), and his Nieces, Kandace Linares (Jesse), Jessica Aguiar, and Emily Cruz. Nephews Eric Villalobos, And Isaac Cruz. Great Nephews Ryan Smith, Cylus Grigsby, and Jesse Linares, Great Niece Bella Linares. Best Friends Benjamin Ruppert and Eric Curry

Taro Saito I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague and friend, Mike Yorker. We worked together at Treasure Data’s Mountain View office, and his presence there was constant—steady, reliable, and deeply human. It is still hard to believe that he is gone. Mike was someone you could always talk to. In one of our casual conversations, I realized he wasn’t familiar with AI tools like ChatGPT. I showed him how it worked, never imagining how quickly he would take it further. True to who he was, Mike learned fast and went beyond expectations—successfully using these tools to help manage the setup of multiple office locations across different countries, navigating language and cultural barriers with care and effectiveness. His openness to learning and ability to adapt were truly remarkable. Beyond his professional contributions, Mike was a source of warmth and guidance to others. He was like a father figure to our summer internship students, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and confident at Treasure Data. When their internships ended, Mike shed tears—an honest reflection of how deeply he cared about people, not just work. That was Mike: genuine, compassionate, and emotionally present. Mike was always in the office, always there. His absence leaves a silence that is impossible to ignore. He will be deeply missed—not only for what he did, but for who he was.

Matt Ostrander Michael was a friend and colleague. At Parkside Lending he was our facilities manager and helped us handle many different offices and complexities with professionalism and honesty, diligence and integrity. His willingness to work long hours and be part of the team were a pleasure- we could always depend on Michael. I’m truly saddened to hear of Michael’s passing, he was a good man. I wish there were more Michael’s in this world. Rest in peace Michael- We will never forget you.
