Ralph was born in Portland, Oregon on 10/23/1949 to Ralph and Zita Howell. He attended Central Catholic High School and The University of Portland. Ralph dedicated many years of his life to custodial work and owned his own janitorial business for a short time.

Ralph loved animals, especially dogs and chickens and had many beloved pets throughout the years. He loved music, especially Springsteen. He was a Yankees fan, loved to read(especially the Stephanie Plum series!), garden and was absolutely obsessed with The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon TV shows. Everything stopped at 7pm when Young Sheldon came on! Ralph also loved to decorate for Halloween and Christmas and earned himself the nickname of the neighborhood Clark Griswald.

Ralph is survived by his wife Leanora Borja, daughters Chelsea Mersereau and Wendy Howell, son Jesse Howell, sister Marlene Howell and his three grandchildren Judah, Ace and Reuben Mersereau. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Zita.
