Katharine Pauline Harris, age 65, passed away in her sleep after ongoing health challenges on January 14, 2026, in Everett, Washington.

Katharine was born on January 21, 1960, in Reseda, California, to Eugene Harris and Pauline Linda Prismich-Harris. She grew up in Valinda, California, and graduated from Workman High School in 1978.

Katharine most recently lived in Clinton, Washington, and will be remembered as a loving mother, grammy, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend, but also as a creator at heart. Katharine had a remarkable ability to make something out of nothing: turning bare yards into lush gardens, ordinary moments into cherished traditions, bland ingredients into something delicious, and everyday materials into something useful. Her hands were rarely still, and her creativity showed most clearly outdoors, where she found joy in “dinking away” in the yard, tending plants, rearranging pots, and bringing life to whatever space she touched.

She never met a stranger and had a way of making friends wherever she went,  whether standing in line at the grocery store, waiting at an airport gate, or striking up a conversation that somehow felt like it had been going on for years.

Katharine was the “fun mom” while her children were growing up, always going above and beyond to make life feel special through over-the-top Halloween celebrations, meaningful Christmas Eve traditions, and unforgettable birthday parties. She believed memories mattered, and she poured her heart into creating them. Those moments, full of laughter, color, and love, will live on in her family forever.

While she faced many health challenges over the years, her family finds comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is now at peace.

Katharine is survived by her children Kimberly Taksony (Ryan), Nikole Coleman (Matthew Rogers), and Zachary Harris (Twyla Godwin); her grandchildren Kilynn Taksony, Lucas Taksony, Erik Godwin-Carter, and Ophelia Harris-Godwin; her sister Nadean Rice-Junkin; her brothers Don Rice and Garry Harris; her nephews Chad Junkin and Corey Junkin; and her best friend Nina Delatorre-Tutton.

She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Harris, and her parents Eugene Harris and Pauline Linda Prismich-Harris.
