Michael Maurice Thompson
09/04/1948 – 01/20/2026

Michael passed away at home of natural causes on January 20, 2026.

He was born in Chattanooga, TN and grew up mostly in Burlington, NC.  His step-father was in the Army and the family also lived in Bamberg, Germany as well as Hattiesburg, MS.

Michael attended the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, he was employed in Reston, Virginia for a short time.  In 1980 he moved across the country to Renton, WA to join The Boeing Company where he worked until retirement.  

Michael called Renton home and enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest.  He was an avid BMW enthusiast since purchasing his first one in the late 1970s.  He always loved science fiction books and movies.

Michael’s parents, Mary Frances Carden Knott and Joseph Thompson both  preceded him in death.  He is survived by his sister, Donna Shahwan, her husband Elias, a niece, two nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews, all residing in Texas.
